ad blocker attribution

Shopify order attribution that works with ad blockers

Roughly 1/3 of shoppers now block the tracking scripts your ads rely on. Without the right attribution software you are missing huge amounts of data.

Origin attributes those orders anyway using server-side attribution and multiple different data signals. This means ad blockers, cookie banners, and iOS privacy settings can't hide where your sales came from.

  • Records conversions server-side, so a blocked pixel never loses the order
  • Matches sessions without third-party cookies or browser storage
  • Reads Shopify's first-party data directly: nothing for ad blockers to strip
  • Recovers 38% more attributed orders than pixel-only tracking

the problem

How ad blockers break your attribution

Ad platforms measure conversions with a browser pixelwhich is a snippet of code that runs on the visitors browser. When that pixel is blocked and the visitor places an order, they are invisible to the ad platform and your analytics.

As of Q2 2025, 32.5% of US internet users run an ad blocker (GWI data via DataReportal), so a meaningful share of every store's paid orders are invisible to the ad dashboards by default.

01

The shopper blocks the script

Ad blockers and privacy browsers stop the Meta, Google, and TikTok pixels from ever loading. The visit happens, but the platforms can't see it.

02

The conversion goes unrecorded

When they buy, the pixel that should report the sale was blocked at step one. The order lands in Shopify, but the ad platform never hears about it.

03

Ad platforms guess

Without hard data ad platforms are forced to guess when conversions happen. This inevitably leads to inaccurate metrics in your dashboard.

This is why your Meta ROAS rarely matches your Shopify revenue. Origin's server-side tracking fixes this.

Which blockers and privacy features Origin survives

Origin doesn't depend on the thing each of these removes. It attributes from server-side events and Shopify's first-party data, so every case below still resolves to a source.

the fix

Attribution that doesn't live in the browser

Origin records every conversion server-side and matches it to a source using Shopify's first-party data. This unique combination of highly accurate first-party data and multiple different data sources produces cleaner and more accurate attribution data.

The mechanism behind it is Origin Pulse, our server-side tracking layer. It works alongside your existing Meta and Google pixels, recovering the events they lose and stitching them to the right order.
